Barricaded Person Surrenders After Nearly Six-Hour Standoff
DENTON, TX, Oct. 10, 2020 – On Oct. 9 at 10:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a person with a gun call in the 3200 block of Bob-O-Link Lane. According to the 911 call, a male suspect was armed with a gun and had assaulted one of his family members.
Officers responded and located the suspect who was later identified as Andres Flores, a 30-year-old male. Flores had barricaded himself in an old vehicle that was parked in the backyard of the residence, and he refused to exit the vehicle. Denton PD Negotiators and SWAT responded and were able to speak with Flores. Search and arrest warrants were obtained, and after nearly six hours Flores surrendered and was taken into custody. Flores was arrested just after 4 a.m. on Oct. 10, on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A firearm was located in the vehicle following a search.
We are thankful that our Negotiators and SWAT Team were able to work diligently to bring this call to a peaceful resolution. We would also like to thank the residents in the neighborhood who were patient and understanding during this call.
